In just a few years, Venezuela has gone from being the richest country in South America to one of the poorest. In front of gas stations, Venezuelan drivers have to wait hours, sometimes days, to hope to fill their tanks even though the country has the world's largest oil reserves. Brother Nelson braves mountain trails to distribute essential foodstuffs to Indian communities. In the Andes, Chucho supports his entire village thanks to barter and his 4X4. On Lake Maracaibo, fishermen helplessly watch the contamination of the water by abandoned oil wells while they no longer have the means to buy fuel for their boats. Situated in the extreme north-west of Afghanistan, the Wakhan corridor is bordered by the Hindou Kouch mountains and peaks at almost 5000 metres high. The only road that cuts through the corridor is almost inaccessible, crossing the mountainside, often buried by metres of snow. Director : Nicolas Cotto
Description
Paleontology is currently experiencing a golden age: in the last ten years, more fossil species have been unearthed than since the origins of this science two centuries ago. Thanks to new technologies, at the crossroads of genetics, ethology, geology and even particle physics, paleontologists can today redraw the tree of life and its branches erased by time. They shatter certain myths that persisted until the end of the 20th century, and can answer three essential questions: where do insects come from? where do the birds come from? where do mammals come from? Director: Emma Baus and Bertrand Loyer
Afghanistan is one of the most closed countries on the planet, a secret country with rare images. The “Roads of the Impossible” teams followed Afghan drivers, who are fighting for their survival and that of their families. Indispensable heroes without whom goods and foodstuffs would not circulate. The train is non-existent and air freight is way too expensive. In this country where everything needs to be rebuilt, drivers face barely maintained roads, some of which rise to more than 4,000 meters above sea level. Azathoula and his Bedford are not unworthy: the truck may date from 1966, but the driver rushes in with 17 tonnes of bananas. In the mountains, on the roofs of collective taxis, men, animals and goods swing. Ali Assan is one of the few to dare to ride in the snow on this narrow track. Director : Paul COMITI
After the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor, the US Navy shifted their focus to regaining control of the Pacific. In 1942, they emerged victorious in the Coral Sea and Midway battles against the Japanese. Meanwhile, the German airforce continued their bombing campaign on UK cities in the Baedeker Raids.
Amid the Cold War's tense backdrop, Berlin becomes the epicenter of an invisible battle between the CIA and the KGB. Spanning decades, this clandestine conflict pits the two superpowers against each other in a high-stakes game of espionage. From daring missions like the Berlin Tunnel project to double agents like George Blake, the story reveals the covert maneuvers, betrayals, and psychological warfare that defined the era. As agents on both sides navigate ideological divides and personal sacrifices, the crumbling of the Berlin Wall in 1989 signifies not just the end of an era, but the triumph of diplomacy over secrecy and division. Director: David Muntaner
Hitler would be the fallen angel, the devil, the man who hypnotized and horrified an entire people and plunged the whole world into war. Alone, the Führer would have decided and planned everything. 0:00 🇩🇪 Hitler's image as an infallible genius was a myth; he was a dilettante who did not like intellectual effort. He surrounded himself with a network of collaborators, including Hermann Goering, Joseph Goebbels, and Heinrich Himmler. 10:36 🔥 Hitler recruits his closest allies and assigns them important roles in the Nazi party. 21:25 🔥 Joseph Goebbels rises to power as Hitler's Minister of Propaganda and orchestrates the persecution of Jews in Germany. 32:56 💥 Hitler's architect, Albert Speer, successfully completes the construction of the future chancellery of the Reich in just one year, impressing Hitler and solidifying his position as one of Hitler's most influential advisors. 43:08 ⚠️ Hitler prepares for war and the Nazis begin their conquest of Europe, while Himmler oversees the implementation of the Holocaust. 53:46 🔍 Rudolf Hoess, the commandant of Auschwitz, and Dr. Joseph Mengele, who conducted medical experiments, were key figures in the atrocities committed at the camp. 1:02:14 😮 Goering's disagreement with Hitler, Speer's miracle of doubling armament production, and Goebbels' efforts to rally the German people. 1:13:39 🔥 The collapse of the Reich is imminent as the Allies invade Normandy and Margit, a Jewish girl in hiding in Berlin, hears news of an assassination attempt on Hitler. 1:23:40 💀 The Nuremberg Trials result in the condemnation of Nazi war criminals, with Hermann Goering choosing to commit suicide rather than be hanged, and Albert Speer successfully portraying himself as ignorant of the Holocaust. The Light of Dawn tells the story of Operation Overlord. It traces one of the largest military operations man has ever conceived since the summer of 1941 - when Churchill and Roosevelt first broached the issue - to June 6, 1944. He deciphers the strategy of 'Hitler to make it fail. The film recounts this crucial turning point in World War II where questions of geopolitics (the difficult alliance between London, Moscow and Washington), the various military strategies and technological prowess as well as the fate of the young soldiers who attacked the wall of the Atlantic will pay a heavy price. The landing will be told here in the style of a play with its intrigues, its dramas, the art of bluffing and the fate of the world being played out. Entirely written with archival footage remastered and colorized, this 90-minute film written and directed by Jean-Christophe Rosé was produced for France Télévisions as part of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in June 2014. This film was produced by Kuiv Productions. 00:00 The June 6, 1944 03:07 The Tehran Conference, 1943 05:42 Atlantic Wall 28:17 Desmond O'Neill 28:46 French Francs 45:40 Omaha Beach 53:26 Sword Beach 58:04 Juno Beach 01:03:28 General Montgomery 01:09:55 Charles de Gaulle 01:24:14 Winston Churchill
