We invite you to discover the Bissagos Islands, an isolated territory of Guinee Bissau, in West Africa. These sacred lands resemble a vast river delta. Marcelinho is a traditional healer from Empincha, a village situated on the island of Carache in the Bijagos Islands. He learned the art of traditional medicine from his father and has been practicing it to treat people in the northern islands. In recent years, Marcelinho has also received training in the fundamentals of modern western medicine from foreign doctors. The Bissagos Islands are home to the island of Orango, situated in the far south, and designated as a World Biosphere Reserve and the country's first National Park. Pedro, a generous man, resides on this island and works as a reporter for Okinka Pampa, Orango's small radio station. He is always on the lookout for stories to share with his listeners. Quintino, residing on the island of Caravella, is preparing for the fanado, the highest initiation rite that will unlock a mysterious and secret world to him. This rite is considered the most important phase of his life and is celebrated by the community with great enthusiasm. Director: Laurent Cadoret Series: Around the World
Adolf Hitler's life, from his early years to his rise to power, is marked by ambition, failure, and radical ideology. Born in 1889, Hitler aspired to be an artist but faced rejection, leading him to a bohemian life in Vienna, where he developed deep anti-Semitic views. After serving as a soldier in World War I and being devastated by Germany's defeat, he joined the German Workers' Party, later becoming the leader of the Nazi Party. His oratory skills and radical nationalist ideas gained him a significant following. Following the failed 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, Hitler was imprisoned and wrote Mein Kampf, which outlined his ideology. By 1933, Hitler became Chancellor, establishing a totalitarian regime. His anti-Semitic policies culminated in the Holocaust, and his expansionist ambitions led to World War II in 1939, causing the deadliest conflict in history. Hitler's transformation from a failed artist to a dictator shaped modern history.
The Incas did not leave any written word. The only testimony comes from the first conquistadores who collected the natives’ tales. Successors, among others, to brilliant civilisations preceding them, the Incas were originally a small tribe from the Quechua region on the bank of Lake Titicaca, between Peru and Bolivia. They are part of a confederation of several groups, occupying at first a subordinate rank. The confederation relied on two clans, the Hanan detaining political power, and the Hurin, the military power of which the Incas were part of. This shared power explains the Inca group’s rise to power by force. It is only in during the mid-14th century that the Incas create a state bearing their name. Cuzco was the Inca capital for a long time, being the crossroads of the trans-Andean economical axis. It died down when economical activity turned towards Lima. Machu Pichu is the ancient Inca city, dating back to the 15th century, perched on a rocky headland on the eastern central Andes. Listed since 1983 on the UNESCO’s world heritage sites, it is also one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Looking at the Incas’ daily lives, their rites and religious cults, we will explore the mystery and legends of this lost civilisation. Why human sacrifices, why gold is the Inca’s symbolic metal, why worship the Sun? In this documentary we will attempt to solve these questions, with the help of experts on Latin America: Jean-Francois Bouchard, Patrice Lecoq and Carmen Bernand. 2015 / 52 minutes HD (this documentary is subtitled) Directed by Jacques VICHET

After a hot, dry spring, the woodland around Marseille was ready to go up in flames. Summer 2016 would be a record breaker in terms of fire. The fire-fighters would need to show what they were made of. To protect the Mediterranean forest, teams of fire-fighters require military technology, operational tactics, social networks and ancestral knowledge. But suspicious fires spreading into urban areas would take them to breaking point. Reinforcements from all over France would be sent to take control. Germany's journey from post-World War I humiliation to becoming a military powerhouse under Adolf Hitler is one of history's darkest transformations. Rising amidst economic despair, political chaos, and societal disillusionment, Hitler's magnetic oratory and radical ideology united a fractured nation. His Nazi Party capitalized on national resentment, the Treaty of Versailles' harsh terms, and the economic collapse following the Great Depression. Backed by a devoted inner circle, Hitler weaponized propaganda, terror, and nationalism to consolidate power. This documentary explores the origins of Nazi ideology, the manipulation of a wounded Germany, and the devastating consequences of one man's relentless pursuit of dominance. Narrated by Ryan Mandrake Germany's Fatal Attraction: Episode 1
